Bible Reading / The Narrow Path: The Honest Cost of Following Jesus

Day 3 | Doing the Right Thing Is Hard

Read:

You know what's right. You also know exactly how much easier the wrong thing would be right now. And you're tired of holding the line while it seems like everyone else has stopped holding theirs.

Hebrews doesn't minimize that. But it does reframe it. You're not running this race alone: "Since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up" (Hebrews 12:1, NLT). There are people who ran before you, who faced what you're facing, and who kept going.

Temptation isn't a sign you're weak. It's a sign you're on the right path. The question is how do you handle it. Today, name the thing you’re struggling to stay away from. Then name one person running this road with you—and reach out.

Pray: God, I'm tired of doing the hard right thing when the easy wrong thing is right there. Give me what I need to hold the line today—not just willpower, but real strength that comes from you. Remind me I'm not running this race alone. Amen.
