Bible Reading / The Narrow Path: The Honest Cost of Following Jesus

Day 7 | Is Following Jesus Actually Worth It?

Read:

You're tired. The road has been longer and harder than you expected, and somewhere in the exhaustion, the question has surfaced: Is this actually worth it?

It's a fair question. Jesus never pretended the narrow road was comfortable. He just said it leads to life. Paul put it plainly: "What we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later" (Romans 8:18, NLT). That might sound like toxic positivity—but Paul wrote those very words while he was in prison for his faith. (If anyone had a reason to question whether following Jesus was worth it, it was Paul!)

The wide road has more company. It's easier. But it doesn't go anywhere worth going. The narrow road is harder—but it leads to life that actually matters, now and forever. Keep going. The destination is worth every hard mile—and the one who called you here hasn't left your side.

Pray: God, the road has been harder than I expected, and I need you to remind me why it's worth it. Help me fix my eyes on what's ahead instead of what this has cost me. I'm not quitting, but I need you to keep me going. Amen.
