Read:

The fruit of the Spirit is evidence of the Holy Spirit’s work in our hearts. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control are things the Spirit increases in our hearts—and the evidence of it in our lives is experienced by everyone nearby.

Unhealth—whether spiritual or emotional—makes it hard for that fruit to grow. When the heart is overwhelmed or wounded, it’s difficult to live with peace, patience, or gentleness. But when God brings healing, his character begins to show through us again.

That fruit nourishes relationships. It brings steadiness into marriages, warmth into families, and grace into friendships. And just like any kind of growth, it happens gradually as we stay connected to God—and honest about what’s happening inside us.

Take a moment to reflect. Ask God what kind of fruit your life has been producing and what he wants to grow instead. What kinds of fruit are the people you love missing out on?

Pray: God, grow the fruit of your Spirit in me. Let what you produce in my life bless the people around me. Amen.
